On 24th February, The teaching and research group of thecourse “WritingandCommunication” of TaiyuanUniversity of Technology held the launching ceremony of online course construction in CHL. Dean of CHL Li Yongfu attended the meeting, The teachers who attended the meeting were Fanrong, Hei Hongjun, Wang Xinman, liye, Yang Xiaotian and Hu Lina, the meeting was presided over by Wang Xinman.
At the meeting, Dean Li Yongfu affirmed the construction achievements of the course“writing andCommunication” in2020-2021academicyear, and thanked the teachers of the course“writing andCommunication”for their hard work. Dean Li Yongfu stressed that, curriculum construction is a systematic and long-term process, and the next step should continue to adjust the curriculum system, explore various modes of online and offline teaching, full-online teaching and so on, effectively participate in the application of relevant topics and planning materials, and promote the quality of the curriculum with practical actions.
And then, Wang Xinman, Fan Rong, Hei Hongjun and Li Wei, four teachers who participated in the online course recording, had an in-depth exchange on the nature of the course, objectives and tasks, teaching content and assessment methods. On the basis of defining the division and task of online course recording, this meeting discusses how to record moocs with high quality from the aspects of content design, courseware making and the details of course recording, so as to perfect the course system of online course teaching.
The course "Writing and Communication" in TYUT is a compulsory general education course for freshmen in spring semester of our university, The teaching objective of this course is to teach the knowledge related to multiple topics, writing and communication, exercise students' writing and communication skills, be able to write scientific articles, finally get through the basic logic between multiple disciplines, and cultivate students' logical thinking and innovative thinking. The course relies on the MOOCs platform of Writing and Communication in Tsinghua University and Superstar learning platform，adopts the hybrid teaching mode of online and offline. Students learn online and offline, and teachers set writing themes offline to guide students in writing and communication.
The course "Writing and Communication" in TYUT was opened for the first time in the spring semester of the 2020-2021 academic year. 45 teachers from 15 colleges taught 6589 students from 18 colleges of 2020, successfully completing the teaching task. This semester is the second time in TYUT to open classes. 58 teachers from 16 colleges of our school will teach 6,755 students from 19 colleges of 2021 in 62 classes. Different from depending on the MOOCs provided by Tsinghua University last time, this course will be taught by our teachers themselves. 138 students from five pilot classes of grade 2021 of the college of Civil Engineering will participate in the online course construction. This is not only a bold teaching experiment for all the students, but also a favorable measure to help TYUT build "double First-class", improve students' humanistic quality, and promote the university to develop steadily into a university of "comprehensive excellence in both liberal arts and science".
