On 24th April, The opening ceremony and the first lecture of 120th anniversary of the university lecture series was held successfully in CHL. Professor Wu Xiaolin, deputy dean of Zhou Enlai School of Government, Nankai University, delivered a special lecture entitled "Fieldwork and Research on Urban Governance". Dean of CHL Li Yongfu attended the activity. Teachers' representatives, all counselors and student representatives participated in theactivity. The lecture was presided over by Yu Dongshan, director of the Department of Public Administration.
Professor Wu's lecture consists of threeparts;thefirst part is the field scene of urban governance research, starting from 1997 and 2011, introduces that urban governance research in China is closely related to everyone's daily life, and then focuses on the reform of street offices and megacities governance in current urban governance in China. The second part is the level of urban governance research, including structural perspective, process narrative and basic investigation. The third part is how to research. Professor Wu interprets the specific levels of research based on his own academic research experience: The first level is to reveal new findings and contribute a new knowledge;thesecond level is to provide a theoretical hypothesis as the basis for a new theoretical dialogue;thethird level is to think small and show structural care.
On behalf of the teachers and students of CHL, Dean Li Yongfu expressed his gratitude to Professor Wu Xiaolin for his wonderful lecture and sincerely invited Professor Wu to come to our university to guide the construction of the discipline of public administration. Professor Wu also guided the MPA thesis topic selection of CHL, and enthusiastically answered the questions of teachers and students.
